Overheard

We often separate our boys at bedtime. Once they're asleep, we put them back in their room; Bryce & Nathan share the full bottom bunk, and Jeffrey sleeps on the twin top bunk.

Tonight we put Nathan in our room and he had a fit. He was miserably crying and saying he wanted to be in his own bed tonight. So Rob told him that once he was asleep, we would put him in his own bed.

Now, to what I just overheard Nathan yelling at the top of his lungs from our bed:

Nathan--Dad! DAAAAD! Daaaa-aaaad!
Iiiiiiiiii'm
Asleeeeeep!
Daaaaad!

Clearly, he still wants to be put into his own bed. While he's awake.

I love this. I enjoy my children. They'll only be little once and I want to enjoy it while I can. If the house is clean, then it's clean, if not, at least we had fun!s

Ooops, ok replied to wrong post, but... I enjoy your 'overheard' posts. I can't help but giggle when I hear my boys.

That's ok, Melody, I loved your post comment anyway, and knew you were referring to the poem. : )

Nathan is so-so adorable. I can't wait to get my arms around him at Christmastime!

LOL!!!

This is right up there with the crying comment in the middle of the bedtime routine (usually at a high volume) "I'm NOT tired".

Sometimes I think it's really awesome how out of touch children are with "the real world." Obviously, you can't tell me that you're asleep if you are actually asleep, but they don't get that. It creates such wonderful moments . . . if only I can remember to see them that way. ;)

That's like when they say "I'm NOT *jaw-cracking yawn* tired!" while crying. Your actions betray your words, young one...
